Biography

Dr. Gao is a Professor of Biostatistics at the Indiana University School of Medicine and has led the Data Management and Statistics Core of the NIH-funded Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (IADRC) since 2004. She has extensive experience directing multidisciplinary teams of statisticians and data managers to develop advanced database systems and to deliver statistical and bioinformatics support for large cohort studies, clinical trials, and laboratory research. Dr. Gao has established a strong track record of independent research as Principal Investigator on multiple NIH-funded R01 projects. She has also been deeply committed to training the next generation of scientists, mentoring junior investigators in securing career development awards, and supervising PhD dissertation research focused on innovative statistical methods for Alzheimer’s disease research.
